Mrohlback, would you please indicate the model of the Intel® wireless adapter your system is using?
Let me know if you are experiencing drops just with WiDi or also with the WiFi connection.
If you reset the adapter then it is possible its firmware rolled back and might need to be updated in order to work properly with Windows* 8. Try the workaround from the link below or update it using Windows* 7 or perhaps the manufacturer provides a different firmware update method without needing the Intel® WiDi connection.
